Drug companies have known for many, many years that doctors overprescribe opioids to patients. We see in the news of doctors losing their licenses, being prosecuted for opioid abuse, doctors running mails where people are coming in the middle of the night to get these prescriptions. These drug companies know that that doctor is prescribing hundreds and hundreds, thousands and thousands of pills, and they know that’s not appropriate, and they should be held accountable, as well as the doctors who prescribe them.
